About Department

The department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering was established in the year 2005 along with the ECE and CSE departments. The department has an intake of 60 students. Commencing the academic year 2012, a post-graduate course in Power Electronics and 2015 in Power Systems was started. The department has full fledged laboratories, workshops and P.G. labs. The department is staffed with qualified, experienced and dedicated members who engage in research activities.
The department feels proud to have produced Seven batches of B.Tech graduates and one batch of M.Tech, many of whom are successfully employed in different areas in Electrical Engg. and Computer Applications . Some of them are pursuing higher studies in reputed institutions in India and abroad. The department with active support from the management is aiming to expand its research activities and industrial consultancies.

Mission:

The Mission of the Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering is to:
M1: Impart quality education for addressing the needs of present & emerging technological world.
M2: Interact with industry and research organizations to provide a unique set of well- rounded learning skills.
M3: To enable graduates to take on the mantle of higher responsibilities in the domain of Electrical Engineering.
M4: To produce competent and highly knowledgeable engineers with positive approach and self-confidence to face the challenges of life.

Sri A ArjunaRao did his B Tech from G V P College of Engg., Madhurawada, Visakhapatnam, He completed his MTech from N I T Rourkela and present he is doing his Ph.D in Andhra University. He was awarded as Best Teacher for the Academic year 2010-11 from JNTU Kakinada. He got 12 years of teaching experience. He guided number of BTech and Mtech students. To his credit he published 12 papers in National and International Journals.

Electrical Circuits Laboratory:

This is a core laboratory for all the branches of engineering. This laboratory enables the students to understand the Fundamental Theorems and Laws useful to design electrical networks.

Electronics Laboratory:

 Majority of the power control devices use power electronic circuitry. This laboratory is useful in designing of various types of power converters and their characteristics and their real time application.

 

Control Systems Laboratory:

 This is one of the laboratories used by senior students of the program where the students work with open and closed loop control of electrical and mechanical systems. Process control, temperature control, programmable logic controllers and control of servomotors are some of the experiments conducted in this laboratory.

 PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

“PEOs are broad statements that describe the career and professional accomplishments that the program is preparing graduates to achieve”.

PEO 1:

Graduates with a strong foundation in the field of Basic Sciences, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering and ability to provide solutions for real time industrial problems.

PEO 2:

Graduates with ability to apply technical knowledge and take on higher responsibilities in industry, academics and diverse fields of Electrical Engineering.

PEO 3:

Graduates with ability to operate generating stations, transformers, electrical machines, transmission lines and switch gear in an appropriate manner to improve efficiency & economics.

PEO 4:

Graduates with profession attitude, communication, technical and leadership skills to become successful engineers.

The following are the Program Outcomes of Engineering Graduates:

PO1: Engineering knowledge : Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.

PO2: Problem analysis : Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.

PO3: Design/development of solutions : Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.

PO4: Conduct investigations of complex problems : Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.

PO5: Modern tool usage : Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
